Microwave Innovations specializes in design, test, and manufacturing of high-reliability Munitions, Missile, and Space Launch telemetry products and systems.

Design & Engineering

Microwave Innovations highly experienced Engineering and Technical staff provides design support services for both standard and customer special products. For Product Modifications or New Product development, no non-recurring engineering (NRE) effort is too big or too small. MI prides itself in supporting all customer requirements, large to small, with the same level of professionalism, performance, and quality. Whether it’s a multiple year program or a rapid development and prototype path-finder proof-of-concept program, your needs can be expertly supported.

Production

Microwave Innovations offers a complete manufacturing capability with a highly skilled and experienced assembly staff. MI also utilizes a number of highly qualified local subcontractors to augment our capabilities for unique or high volume needs and special processes. MI internally supports assembly from micro-electronic assembly, state-of-the-art packages and attachment processes, to final product assembly. Production Test

Microwave Innovations offers a wide-range production Acceptance Test capability that covers the typical telemetry environmental test conditions and is supportive of many mission profiles, including those found in Space Launch, Airborne, and Munitions. The test capabilities internally available include but are not limited to:

  • Acceptance Environmental Test Capabilities:
    • Thermal Cycle Testing, Short & Long Duration (hours or days)
    • Product Burn-In and Extended Exposures, -34°C to +85°C
    • Thermal Vacuum Test: 1 x 10-4 Torr from -24°C to +75°C
    • Random & Sine Vibration Testing
    • Shock Test

Qualification Test

Microwave Innovations offers customers a full range production Qualification Test capability that covers the typical Telemetry “Qual” Environmental test requirements, and is supportive of many mission profiles, including those found in Space Launch, Airborne, and Munitions. The test capabilities available through supporting regional vendors include but are not limited to:

  • Qualification Environmental Test Capabilities:
    • Pyrotechnic Shock
    • Extended Random & Sine Vibration (including thermal)
    • EMC/EMI/RFI/ESD/Surge (including MIL-STD-461 C-F, 462 & 1551)
    • Extended Duration High & Low Temperature Humidity
    • HALT / HASS

Automated Test Equipment (ATE)

Microwave Innovations can provide Automated Test Equipment (ATE) product testing upon request, or if it is part of program requirements. Typically ATE is called for with programs requiring extended Acceptance Testing or extensive performance monitoring over extended test periods. Both Acceptance Testing and Qualification Test Programs can benefit greatly from high fidelity ATE monitoring and built-in limit checking, alarm indicators, test real-time status monitoring, and report generation.

While many standard products are perfectly capable of reaching the same level of final production quality without ATE production testing, having the option of additional test monitoring available can be an added value, so request an ATE quotation for your program today. Be sure to include what test parameter, monitoring frequency, and tolerance on each parameter you are seeking.

Quality Assurance

Microwave Innovations has a long history of supporting the most demanding aerospace Quality Assurance requirements, and is an AS9100 Certified Company with a complete Quality Management System (QMS). Microwave Innovations often supports customer driven Quality interests with custom quality programs, and supports Customer Source Inspection on a regular basis. Procurement & Parts Program

Careful attention is assigned to Microwave Innovations’ supply chain activities and procurement of components and materials. Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) and active monitoring and verification are maintained daily for procurement activities. These activities include using only approved or certified OEM authorized suppliers, and maintaining an active Parts Traceability record. Microwave Innovations maintains long-standing relationships with its suppliers and a rigorous incoming materials inspection process.
These direct procurement activities, coupled with extra parts-screening processes, if required, are a key part of our active Parts Program. Where the requirement is specified, Microwave Innovations offers optional parts programs that can include, but are not limited to the following EEE & PCB Material screening processes:

Program Management

Schedule

Microwave Innovations provides Program Management for Development and Production as is required. For production management a Work In Progress (WIP) tracking system in conjunction with a Milestone Schedule is used to insure on-time delivery of products. Each customer or program is assigned a Point of Contact (POC) to further aid customers throughout their Period of Performance (POP). Engineering and New Product Development often require active Program Management and is frequency supported with Workbook Structured (WBS) project tracking. Structured Program Steps are also used for internal engineering and development processes and often include the traditional process steps such as:

  • Engineering & Program Kickoff Review
  • Preliminary Design Review (PDR)
  • Critical Design Review (CDR)
  • Qualification Test Reviews
  • Pedigree Reviews
  • First Article (FA) / Flight Readiness Reviews (FRR)

Progress reports and presentations for these gated processes, as well as customer reviews are commonly supported Program Management activities.
